Pix: Making Pea And Ham Soup
This was the last of a very tasty leg of ham I got from a fancy butcher in Annerley a week ago. I cut the meat off and put the bone on to boil. Then I chopped up two largish onions and put them in a frypan on medium heat with the chopped-off meat, some minced garlic and a bit of butter, and fried that up for about 20 minutes before I put it in with the boiling bone. Then I briefly cooked, and mashed up, some frozen peas and added them to the soup, with some dried barley.

It’s simmering now (I turned it down to medium heat). Will probably add herbs, salt and pepper when it’s cooked. http://djackmanson.posterous.com
